Endeavour Ventures Ltd was established in 2005, and its previously experienced team began making EIS investments that year. By Q1 2018, it had invested in 34 companies for which either advanced assurance for qualification under EIS had been obtained from HMRC.

Based in Marylebone, London, Endeavour Ventures one of the most successful and long-established boutique EIS investment firms in the country. Endeavour bring detailed knowledge, experience and instinct for growth markets, with deep insights into successful exits. Endeavour Ventures seek an established route to market, a scalable business model, and the potential for early entry to the US or global markets.

Over the last 12 years, Endeavour Ventures say that they have carefully built a bespoke offering for sophisticated investors, based on an intimate insight and access to high-quality tech investments. Endeavour also say that their “fees are low. and they take their time.”

The Amberside Capital management team have extensive experience of managing both individual infrastructure projects and institutional fund management. The team have managed investments of over £2bn in infrastructure, solar, commercial property and UK asset backed lending over the last 15 years.

Magnus Macintyre – Chairman

Magnus is a serial entrepreneur and a serial investor in fast-growing companies. He has a broad and deep knowledge of business, having run a publishing company, an early dotcom, New Statesman magazine, a film and TV company and a renewable energy business. He founded and still runs a marketing and strategy consultancy. He brings an entrepreneurial perspective to the Endeavour team and draws on his experience of operations, marketing and team-building to aid our investment process. He has invested through Endeavour Ventures since 2008, before gradually taking a more active role in the company. He has a degree in Modern History from Jesus College, Cambridge, and is a published novelist.

Bill Cunningham – Co-founder and CEO

Bill has worked in tax efficient investing for the past 20 years. First managing VCTs then exclusively using EIS tax breaks.

Bill has a successful 12 year track record investing and placing over £150m in quoted and non-quoted EIS qualifying companies for Endeavour Ventures.

Alongside this role, Bill is an active portfolio company director, holding non-exec board positions with Gazael, R5FX, The Grays Group and Omeira Studio Partners.

Past investments include: JustGiving.com, Sit-Up TV and Blue Prism Group.

Ashley Warden – Investment Director

Ashley is a finance-based leadership figure with direct experience of managing private equity backed businesses. He has operated variously at the level of MD or CFO with several enterprises, and has been involved in fintech and software start-ups, turnaround situations (as well as improving performance within established concerns) and enterprise acquisitions and sales. At Endeavour Ashley sources deals, does the financial due diligence process, and monitors and assists portfolio companies, particularly in the software and FX sectors. He maintains FD roles in technology businesses and is an advisor to a Corporate Finance house in London. He has been an investor in a private capacity and through Endeavour Ventures for over 10 years. Ashley sat on the selection panel on behalf of Microsoft for potential applicants to their Accelerator Program.

Brendan Cluff – Associate

Prior to joining Endeavour in 2010, Brendan had more than ten years of experience as a financial advisor, Earlmont Strategic, working with both High Net Worth Investors (HNWs) and corporates. At Endeavour he has played a key role in fundraising for a wide number of unquoted companies, and joined the investment team in 2013. He has raised significant funds for Numecent Holdings, Naturally Scientific Technologies, Radient Technologies, G-volution and Lightsource, and attends board meetings of all but Numecent. Australian by birth, Brendan has homes in London and Dublin, where he sources Irish technology and green technology prospects that qualify for EIS.

Alex Ainley – Investment Manager

Alex has worked in an FCA regulated environment for 12 years, having started his career in broking as a derivatives trader. At Endeavour, he coordinates funding rounds, raises funds, and manages client relations. Alex also conducts a large amount of due diligence on our investments. Before he worked in venture capital, Alex founded and ran M&P Partners, a systematic trading firm. He is a board advisor to R5FX Ltd. and Microshare Inc.

Alexander Nicholson – Investment Manager

Alex has worked in venture capital since 2013 (initially at Sustainable Ventures). From 2015 to 2018 he supported and then led the finance functions of two technology companies, verv.energy and autotrip.com, cumulatively raising more than £10m in new investment. Alex has direct experience in the commercialisation of data-intensive platform technologies (and associated AI), and secured FTSE 100 pilot partners and strategic industry NEDs for investee companies. In 2018 Alex won Vodafone’s global disruptive startup competition in Luxembourg, securing a €150k cash prize from Cisco Systems. He is a graduate of the University of St Andrews and Cambridge Judge Business School.
